Sam Clayden is a professional portrait artist working out of his Wimbledon Studio. A frequent exhibitor in London, most regularly with the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Sam is currently taking portrait commissions.

Sam’s belief is that nature, light, atmosphere and simple shape and colour design can be harnessed to communicate something that words cannot.

With his portraits, Sam works with clients to capture upon the canvas the essence of their character, the memory of them. From the choice of pose and clothing to the composition and paint application, Sam pulls together all the elements of pictorial design to evoke more than just a likeness but the feeling of his sitters and their personalities.
